Party, cadre and family stand united: Mulayam Singh Yadav
A day after the stormy meeting of party Legislators where top Samajwadi party leaders attacked each other , family patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav said that chief minister Akhilesh Yadav will decide over the re-induction of the ministers who were sacked on October 23.
The party supremo said that the SP is a democratic party and if the party gets the majority in 2017 elections then the elected MLAs will elect the new leaders which are the democratic convention practised by all the political parties, he said.
Shivpal along with three other ministers were dismissed by the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav on last Sunday.
Evan as the chief minister was missing from the press conference addressed by the SP supremo in Lucknow on Tuesday , Mulayam Singh said “the family stands united’ amid a chasm between son Akhilesh and brother Shivpal whose differences threaten to split the party.
“The media is asking unnecessary and irrelevant questions. The family, party and the cadres all are united and there is no dispute at any level in the party’, said Mulayam Singh.
Replying to a volley of questions whether Akhilesh Yadav will be the chief minister face of the party in 2017 assembly elections Mulayam Singh said “ I am not going to make any controversial statement today. The 2012 assembly election was contested in my name , parties declare the chief ministers face ahead of the elections but the leader is formally elected by the newly elected MLAs and this is the convention in all the political parties’’.
Asked about the absence of the chief minister from the press conference, the SP chief said “ Akhilesh Yadav is the chief minister today. has anybody expressed any objection to it’’?
When asked about the reinduction of the four minister sacked on October 23, he said “ Ask this question to the chief minister, I have left this matter to the discretion of Akhilesh,” he said.
When asked about Ram Gopal Yadav, he said “I am not willing to even to hear his name. Please do not ask a question about him. I don’t give any importance to any of his statements’’.
When asked if he wants to become the CM replacing Akhilesh, Mulayam cracked a joke,” do you want me to become a CM for two months just to distribute the salary to the state employees. The elections would be announced by December and why should I become a CM for two months when I have already served as the chief minister for three times,” he said.
Ahead of the press conference, each room of the state SP office was searched by the police and all party leaders and cadres were asked to leave the premises of the office.
Meanwhile, hundreds of overexcited supporters of the chief minister Akhilesh Yadav indulged in intense slogan shouting at the state office of the party.
The supporters of the chief minister also gathered outside his Kalidas Marg residence and raised slogan. Close to the CM’s residence the supporters of Shivpal Yadav also indulged in slogan shouting in front of his official residence on Kalidas Marg.
