Congress’ poster boy and vice president Rahul Gandhi had a lucky escape on Saturday evening when he came in touch with a live wire in Agra raising serious concern over his safety during the `Deoria se Dilli Kisan Yatra’. The incident took place when he had gone to garland a statue of Maharaja Agrasen. During his road show at Sarafa Bazar area, Rahul Gandhi accompanied by state chief Raj Babbar garlanded Maharaja Agrasen’s statue on his birth anniversary. But as he turned around to go to his vehicle, a naked wire touched Rahul’s left ear jolting him for a moment. He, however, bent down and ducked to avoid any injury.
As soon as he ducked, the SPG cover surrounded him and removed the wire. Rahul Gandhi asked the organizer about the wire and why it was dangling so precariously. The contractor responsible for electric wiring was questioned about the lapse. No one has been detained.
When Raj Babbar asked whether he was okay, Rahul quipped: “Aapne to mujhe current laga diya.” In his address at the road show in Agra, the Congress leader continued his tirade against RSS and BJP saying that the country wants to know why they always lie and try to divide the people. “In every religious book – Gita, Quran, Bible and Guru Granth Sahab, it has been advised to speak the truth always. But I don’t know which religious book the leaders of RSS and BJP read, that they always lie,” he asked.
Rahul also claimed that after the Seventh Pay Commission, no government employee got anything nor were the Indian soldiers taken care of. “At present, the BJP is interested in providing Rs 1.19 lakh crore relief to 15 select industrialists of the country. But the government concern for the poor is just missing,” the Congress leader alleged.
Later, at a Khat Sabha in Tundla (Ferozabad), Rahul again castigated the Modi government for ‘lying about giving Rs 15 lakhs to every citizen of the country’. “The Congress people do not lie but act. We waived off agri-loans to the tune of Rs 72,000 crores during UPA regime,” he stressed.
The Congress leader, who had hailed the PM for Indian Army’s surgical attack on PoK a day before, however on Saturday said that several Army officers / personnel and their families were ignored by the NDA government.
“Modiji, martyr Babloo’s family met me seeking help for a decent livelihood. I urge you kindly to look towards them as well as other families of the martyrs needing government help,” asserted Rahul soon after meeting the brave heart’s family in Ferozabad. Later, Rahul trained his guns at the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party.
`Tell me what the SP regime gave you in the name of welfare except for corruption, crime and mafia raj. On the other side, BSP’s elephant devoured everything (BSP ka hathi to sub kuch kha gaya),” asserted he. “Mayawati claimed of being a Dalit messiah. I want her to name some Dalit leaders whom she promoted in her party or anything she did to facilitate Dalit youths. She, in fact, pushed the Dalits back, so that she could fool them and win elections,” charged Rahul attacking the BSP chief .
