A sedition case has been filed in Muzaffarpur district court, Bihar, asking to prosecute Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leader P Chidambaram and President of the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee, Sanjay Nirupam.
The petitioner has alleged that the leaders have asked for proof of surgical strikes led by Indian Army across the LoC in Pakistan occupied Kashmir on September 29, which is against the Nation and creates question on truthfulness of Army and Government.
The petitioner is the president of a newly founded political party known as ‘Aap or Hum’, case will be heard on October 19.
All the political parties including Congress unanimously supported the military action and congratulated the army, later on the party clarified that Sanjay Nirupam’s comment was not the party’s stand. It may be recalled that both Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice- president Rahul Gandhi had lauded the government on the surgical strikes.
Congress leader from Maharashtra , Sanjay Nirupam caused a stir as has called the surgical strike fake and demanding proof , while former Finance Minister P Chidambaram said “UPA also did surgical strikes on POK too, but it is up to the present government to give proof of the surgical strikes. The much-hyped surgical strike was not the only time that Army had crossed the LoC to take punitive action,” in an interview with CNN News 18.
At the same time, Indian express reports that a complaint application has been filed by activist Maruti Bhapkar with the Pimpri police in Maharashtra, demanding filing of sedition charges against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Congress leaders P Chidambaram, Digvijaya Singh and Sanjay Nirupam, and actors Salman Khan and Om Puri.
Political debate has been going on ever since the dastardly Uri terror attack , and has heightened after surgical strikes by India , where everyone has supported the action of Government but a few have doubted the authenticity of the strikes, while also some commented on Indian Martyrs, causing angst among the people and generating heated arguments in various platforms.
