Sharjah International Book Fair aims at promoting reading habit, love for books among the youth and also preservation of culture in UAE and Arab world. Last year the book festival has drawn over 1.2 Million people with active participation of publishers from 64 countries, and is expected to have more participation this year

Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF), one of the largest book fairs in the world and the most happening event in Arab world will be held from November 2-12.


Sharjah International Book Fair has been organized annually under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah.

The event aims at promoting reading habit, love for books among the youth and also preservation of culture in UAE and Arab world.

Last year the book festival has drawn over 1.2 Million people with active participation of publishers from 64 countries, and is expected to have more participation this year.

The event has emerged a trademark of Sharjah Emirate and it achieved in attracting the youth by providing books at affordable prices.

The event is attended by eminent personalities all over the world like famous Booker Prize winning writer from Nigerian Ben Okri, Indian actor Mohanlal, Egyptian actor Mohammed Sobhy, Irish writer Darren Shan, BBC presenter John McCarthy among others.

Running annually since its inception, SIBF attracts millions of visitors from around the world, hosts some of the biggest names in publishing and the cultural sphere and organises hundreds of events over its 11-day duration. The 34th edition of the SIBF in 2015 saw participation from Egyptian actor Mohammed Sobhy, Irish writer Darren Shan, BBC and Sky TV presenter and writer John McCarthy, Nigerian Booker Prize winning writer and poet Ben Okri and Indian actor Mohanlal.

A number of programmes await visitors at the venue like writing workshops to poetry readings, book signings, and interactive sessions with international and Arab authors, plays, arts and crafts activities.

Another major attraction that draws the crowd is the Cookery Corner, led by world famous chefs, showing the best cuisines of the world.
