Six civilians injured in cross-border firing in Jammu’s RS Pura Sector
At least six civilians were injured in the ongoing cross-border firing in Jammu’s RS Pura Sector on Thursday morning, The Indian Express has reported. Three people including a BSF personnel and a six-year-old boy have been killed and 30 others have been injured in cross-border shelling by Pakistan since last week.
Heavy shelling continued between Indian and Pakistani troops on Thursday in Jammu district’s R.S.Pura sector of the International Border (IB). The shelling along with firing exchanges started late Wednesday night, police said.
A majority of the residents of border villages have moved to safer places, while some have taken refuge in the bunkers made available by the government, PTI reported. The administration has also order closing of schools.
Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached paramount after the September attack by militants on an Indian Army camp in Kashmir’s Uri in which 19 soldiers lost their lives . India responded to the militant attack by conducting surgical strikes on the night of 28-29 September across the LoC in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
