Six people with suspected links with Naxalites were arrested by Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) at Hindon Vihar in Noida’s Sector 49 on Saturday evening, Indian Express has reported.
As per the report, police also recovered weapons from their possession at the time of the arrest.
Aseem Arun, IG, ATS, told Indian Express, “They are adept at making bombs and were planning some incident in the Delhi-NCR region. Interrogation is still underway.”
hose arrested have been identified as Pawan Jharkhand of Madhubani in Bihar, Ranjit Paswan of Chandoli in UP, Sachin Kumar of Dankaur in Greater Noida, Krishna Kumar Ram from Sasaram in Bihar, and Suraj, a resident of Bulandshahr in UP.
A white car with a Uttar Pradesh registration plate was also recovered from the area where the raid took place. Police sources told Indian Express that the men are allegedly linked to a Naxal unit from Latehar in Jharkhand.
According to the report, one of those arrested had been on the run for nearly four years and has links with some Naxalite attacks. Initial investigation reveals that they were living in the area for the last 2-3 months.
