Team Akhilesh gets new accommodation, but CM keeps mum
Prominent among those who attended the graha pravesh function were Ministers Ahmed Hassan, Ram Govind Choudhury, Rajendra Chaudhary and Arvind Singh Gope and several ministers of state and party MLAs
Team Akhilesh on Monday got a new accommodation, the office of the Janeshwar Mishra Trust, in the state capital at 7 Bandriyabagh near the official residence of the chief minister on 5 Kalidas Marg. Being the chairman of the Trust, Akhilesh Yadav inaugurated the new building, which is located behind the state office of the Samajwadi Party.
Even as hundreds of youth leaders and supporters of the chief minister, including the MLCs and heads of the four youth organisations recently expelled from the party, were present to felicitate Akhilesh Yadav, he was conspicuous by his silence. Instead of addressing the huge gathering, he restricted himself to participating in the Graha Pravesh Puja.
Prominent among those who attended the function were Ministers Ahmed Hassan, Ram Govind Choudhury, Rajendra Chaudhary and Arvind Singh Gope and several ministers of state and party MLAs. Rajendra Chowdhary is the vice-chairman of the Janeshwar Mishra trust. Recently, the SP had removed Arvind Singh Gope from the post of the state general secretary. Gope is the rural development minister in the Akhilesh Yadav cabinet.
All the three expelled MLCs— Anand Bhadoria, Sunil Yadav, and Sanjay Lathar - of team Akhilesh were present in the function along with other expelled youth leaders.
The office of the Janeshwar Mishra trust would be utilised by the team for all political activities for the next assembly election. A war room for the 2017 Assembly election will also be set up here. Earlier two people from the old guards - Bhagwati Singh, former Rajya Sabha member, and minister of state Narad Rai - were removed from the trust.
The other members of the trust include Sunil Yadav, MLC; Naimul Hasan, a close member of the team and expelled from the party, and Dharmendra Yadav, cousin brother of the chief minister and MP from Badaun.
Team Akhilesh was left with no place to operate from Lucknow as the heads of the four youth organisations and many office bearers, along with four young MLCs, were expelled from the party in September. Recently, the state Samajwadi party president Shivpal Yadav had imposed a ban on the entry of the youth leaders in the state office of the party and also at the office of the youth organisations in Raj Bhawan colony.
Rattled by the barrage of salvos fired by the old guards at the youth leaders, team Akhilesh has now decided to
pick up the gauntlet and work for the branding of their leader from the new accommodation for the next assembly election.
Major poll-related activities like the designing of the preparation of the audio, video, radio, banner and hoardings will be designed and distributed from this place. A helpline will also function from the trust for helping the rank and file of the party to connect with the chief minister.
The bungalow, which earlier housed the office of the chief town and country planner, was also chosen by the estate department for allotment to Akhilesh Yadav as every chief minister is entitled to a lifelong accommodation in the state capital. After the May 2014 Parliament election, this bungalow was vacated by the office of the town planner.
Akhilesh, however, selected another bungalow at 4 Vikramaditya Marg, close to his father Mulayam Singh Yadav's bungalow. The CM has also shifted to his new bungalow couple of days ago.
