Raising his doubts over the legitimacy of US presidential election process, the Republican candidate Donald Trump on Sunday claimed the election is being rigged.

“The election is absolutely being rigged by the dishonest and distorted media pushing Crooked Hillary – but also at many polling places – SAD,” Trump wrote on Twitter.

As the US Election 2016 is scheduled on November 8, early voting and voting by mail have already started in many US states.

The latest comment from Trumps comes as his vice presidential running mate, Mike Pence, recently said Republicans would accept the outcome of the coming election.

In another tweet, Trump argued that the media rigging the election by making fabricated news. But, Trump could not provide any evidence to back his allegations, media reports stated.

However, critics of Trump find these allegations as part of a strategy to defend his expected defeat in the election.

In September, Trump had assured that he would “absolutely” accept the election outcome. But he recently hinted that he would reverse his statement saying “We’re going to have to see. We’re going to see what happens. We’re going to have to see.”

The presidential hopeful had expressed his concern over voter fraud earlier claiming that is “a big, big problem in this country” and that “nobody has the guts to talk about it”. He had also urged his supporters to “go and watch the polling places and make sure it is on the up and up.”

Latest reports revealed that Trump is trailing rival Hillary Clinton in opinion polls, losing ground in some of the key states after number of sexual allegations emerged against him.

The third and final debate between the presidential candidates is scheduled on Wednesday in Las Vegas.
