Two dead in fire at Cuffe Parade’s Maker Tower in Mumbai

A major fire broke out at the 20th floor of the Maker Tower at Cuffe Parade area in Mumbai on Tuesday morning. Two people have been reportedly killed in the incident, Times of India has reported.

An official of the Mumbai fire brigade told Indian Express the internal fire security system helped the force in controlling the fire on the 20th floor. The flat where fire reportedly broke out belongs to Shekhar Bajaj, MD of Bajaj Electricals.

“The cause of the fire is yet uncertain. Our first aim was to rescue everyone. Unfortunately till the time we reached two persons had already died. About 11 people including women and kids have been rescued,” Chief Fire officer P Rahangdale was quoted as saying by Times of India.

According to fire officials, 11 people have been rescued. The fire was brought under control within two hours.
