Army chopper crashes in West Bengal, 3 officers dead

Three Army officers killed as Cheetah helicopter of Indian Army crashed at Sukna in West Bengal on Wednesday

Three Army officers killed one Junior Commissioned Officer  injured after Cheetah helicopter of Indian Army has crash landed at Sukna in West Bengal on Wednesday.

According to the police source,the incident took place around 11.15 am when the helicopter of the Army Aviation Corps was attempting to land at Sukhna military cantonment’s helipad.

Soon after the incident, Army officials along with local rescue team rushed to the spot. Two of the officers killed were pilots identified as Major Sanjeev Lahar and Major Arvind Bajala. The third officer, Lt Col Rajneesh Kumar, was a passenger.

 “It is an unfortunate incident. One Junior Commissioned Officer is critical and rushed to a nearby hospital,” police source said.

The area has been cordoned off and the army has ordered an inquiry.
