Bank cashier suspended for illegal note exchange in Karnataka
The cashier had agreed to do the illegal exchange for a 30 per cent commission.
A cashier working at the State Bank of Mysore (SBM) in Kollegal branch of Chamarajanagar district in Karnataka was suspended after he exchanged banned notes worth Rs 1 crore for commission on Sunday.
According to sources, the accused cashier, Parashivamurthy, had allegedly entered the bank between 6.30 pm and 7 pm to carry out the illegal act.
However, the CCTV captured his stealthy actions. The cashier had agreed to do the illegal exchange for a 30 per cent commission.
Bank assistant general manager Balakrishna told Karnataka News that Parashivamurthy was suspended as cash and challans did not tally. He further said the CCTV footage was seized by the police and a probe has been ordered.
