The Bengaluru police arrested Dominic Selvaraj Roy, who had fled with an ATM cash van carrying Rs 1.37 crore on November 23, in the wee hours of Tuesday near KR Puram in the city.

He was reportedly arrested when he was returning to Bengaluru from Coimbatore.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Charan Reddy, the police nabbed Dominic near Tin factory on Old Madras Road and the investigation is on.

The police had earlier arrested Dominic’s wife Evelyn, who surrendered to Banaswadi police on Sunday night. The police had recovered cash worth Rs 79.8 lakh from Evelyn.

DCP Reddy said no cash was found in possession of Dominic as it is believed that the couple settled some of their loans using the money.

It may be recalled that a day after the theft, the police recovered the cash van abandoned with cash Rs 45 lakh, all in Rs 2,000 denomination notes, and a rifle near the Vasanthnagar area.

The theft took place around 1.30 pm when the van – belonging to Logicash – had stopped at the Bank of India branch on KG Road. The police had immediately flashed alert messages across the city and barricades were also put into place on various roads.
