Chandrababu Naidu may head CM panel on demonetisation
The Chief Minister's committee will work on reducing adversities caused by demonetisation
Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu is likely to head a committee of Chief Ministers to reduce adversities caused by the demonetisation move of the Narendra Modi government. According to reports, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley talked to Naidu over phone inviting him to join the committee. The panel will include Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and Odissa CM Naveen Patnaik, who had welcomed the demonetisation move.
Chandrababu Naidu, also had supported demonetisation move by the Central government, but questioned the introduction of Rs. 2,000 denomination note. Naidu had been seeking a ban on high denomination notes to combat black money much before the move by the Central government. Reports say that the government is also trying to convince Tripura CM Manik Sarkar to join the panel.
Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao also welcomed demonetisation move on Monday, but called for a ‘total revolution’ against black money, including state funding of elections, a move proposed by the PM himself recently.
