Congress meets without Sonia Gandhi to discuss emergency situation

Reports say that CWC meeting will discuss on extending the deadline for completion of the party's organisational elections which were to be finished by December 31st

Without unwell party president Sonia Gandhi, the Congress party’s Central Working Committee meeting started on Monday. Vice-president Rahul Gandhi is chairing the meeting in the absence of his mother.

Reports say that CWC meeting will discuss on extending the deadline for completion of the party’s organisational elections which were to be finished by December 31st.

The meeting will examine its current political situation and will deliberate its plans for upcoming assembly elections in states including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur next year.

Reports suggest that Congress will finalise its strategy for the winter session of Parliament which is scheduled to be starting from 16th of this month.

Rumours are spreading on a leadership shuffle on the top of the party as suggestions coming of Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi taking over the reins of the party from his mother  Sonia Gandhi.

Today’s meeting is likely to discuss this issue as well.
