Conmen rob Bengaluru businessmen of over Rs 1 crore

Three people reportedly took away Rs 1 crore from Tamil Nadu merchant Arogya Raj’s employees on Tuesday after demanding documents to validate the cash they were carrying

Conmen posing as Income Tax (I-T) and Crime Branch officials on Tuesday robbed businessmen in Bengaluru of Rs 1.83 crore in new currency. Three people took away Rs 1 crore from Tamil Nadu merchant Arogya Raj’s employees on Tuesday after demanding documents to validate the cash they were carrying, The Indian Express has reported.

In another incident, a six-member gang robbed two realtors of Rs 83 lakh on Thursday after approaching them for a deal to convert old notes.

Shivaram K said he, along with an associate, had managed to arrange the cash in new currency when they were approached by a man named Karthik with an offer of Rs 1 crore in old currency in exchange.

The realtors agreed to the exchange at a commission of 20 per cent but Karthik demanded that he be shown the money.

Before the exchange could take place, a group of five persons, claiming to be Crime Branch officials, arrived and took away the cash.
