Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia and Delhi government minister Kapil Mishra were detained near the Parliament building on Tuesday. They were marching towards Parliament in protest against the demonetisation of Rs 500 and 1,000 notes.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has called the demonetisation move “the biggest scam of independent India”.

“Sisodia has been detained along with some AAP leaders and supporters,” DCP Jatin Narwal told media. The Aam Aadmi Party on Monday had announced that it will undertake Sansad March on Tuesday under Sisodia’s leadership. The party had decided to gherao Parliament. Apart from party leaders, Delhi ministers were also part of the march.

Kejriwal and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee had launched the protest in the capital last week demanding a rollback of the Centre’s demonetisation. They also warned the Centre that a revolt will take place if it wasn’t rolled back.
