Demonetisation: 1 killed, 2 injured as cash-carrying vehicle attacked in Assam

One person got killed and two others, including a security personnel, got injured on Wednesday when unidentified miscreants opened fire at a vehicle carrying cash in new currency notes.

One person got killed and two others, including a security personnel, got injured on Wednesday when unidentified miscreants opened fire at a vehicle carrying cash in new currency notes.

As per police officials, notes were  wage payment to employees of a tea garden in Assam’s Tinsukia district. A vehicle carrying cash was going to Pengeri Tea estate when it was fired upon by unidentified miscreants at Digboi killing the driver on the spot. The vehicle was kept in a police station on last evening as the part of security.

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal condemned the incident. He announced an exgratia payment of Rs five lakh to the next of kin of the deceased.
