Demonetisation is a massive clean-up drive, says PM Modi

Prime minister Narendra Modi denoted the demonetisation of high denomination currencies as ‘massive cleaning drive’.

While addressing a gathering the Indian community in Kobe,Japan, Modi expressed gratification at the support the demonetization has received despite the inconvenience it has.

“This is a massive swachhata abhiyaan (cleaning drive),” Modi declared. “The money that has been looted has to be recovered. And, the rules have to be the same for everyone,” he added.

“This government will do everything in its power to protect the interests of its citizen,” he made assurance also.

In between Modi expressed his gratitude to the citizens of the nation for their cooperation.  “I salute each and every India. Many weddings have taken place, many have had to face medical emergencies. The people dealt with all this, and have accepted the decision,” he remarked.

He urged all Indians to learn from Japan, in making adjustments and adapting to changes in line with national interest, quoting 2011 earthquake and tsunami.
