Old notes worth Rs 4.5 crore seized in Gujarat
The scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes worth Rs 4.45 crore have been seized from three different places in Gujarat in the previous days.
Gujarat police intercepted a mini truck in Rajkot district according to a tip-off. 10 bags full of demonetised high-value currency notes worth Rs 2.5 crore were seized from four persons.
The truck was taking the money to Menderna where the owner of the truck, a local pump manufacturing company owner resides. The police told IANS that the cash was handed over to the Income Tax department.
A team of police from Jetpur in the same district detained two persons from a car carrying cash worth Rs 50 lakh in old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
Police seized such notes of Rs 1.45 crore from different places in Narmada and Vadodara districts on Sunday. Two people were detained for carrying scrapped money.
