SC extends Sahara Chief Subroto Roy’s parole,asks to deposit Rs 600 crore by February
The Supreme Cour on Wednesday ordered Sahara Chief Subroto Roy to deposit Rs 600 crore by February 6, 2017. The apex court has extended his parole which was ending on Monday to the partial relief of the besieged boss.
In October, Roy had deposited Rs 200 crore with Sebi as a precedent for his release following which Supreme Court had extended his parole till November 28.
A bench of Chief justice T.S. Thakur and Justices Anil R. Dave and A.K. Sikri had passed the order. Senior lawyer Kapil Sibal had appeared for Mr Roy and informed the court that a total of Rs 215 crore had been deposited with Sebi as per the order passed on September 28.
The lawyer also apprised the apex court that an amount of Rs 15 crore could be adjusted towards future instalments.
