Hearthrob and Hollywood’s A-list actor, Leonardo DiCaprio celebrates his first birthday with his much-awaited Oscar today and turns 42!
The historic moment came on February 28, 2016 when finally DiCaprio broke his Oscar jinx and walked up the stage to accept his much-deserved Best Actor award in Oscars. He received the award for his performance in The Revenant, and even though some of the people didn’t find the movie deserving, there was no question on DiCaprio deserving to win. Some of his most appreciated movies are Inception, Catch Me If You Can, Blood Diamond, Titanic, The Wolf of Wall Street, The Great Gatsby et al.
The droolworthy actor was born in Hollywood, California and started acting at the age of 14 with a breakthrough feature film role came in Michael Caton-Jones’ 1993 screen adaptation of Tobias Wolff’s autobiographical drama “This Boy’s Life.” In the same years, he co-starred in Lasse Hallström’s “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape,” earning his first Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for his performance as a mentally handicapped young man.
It is not to be forgotten that handpicked by none other than the legendary Robert De Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio has also become one of the known and constant faces in environment and gay rights activism. Even in his Oscar-winning speech, he spoke for more than his allotted time, and it was mostly about his cause on climate change.
On the stage, addressing to the crowd who appreciated his win with standing ovation, he said, “’Making The Revenant was about man’s relationship to the natural world…climate change is real.
“It is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating. We need to support leaders around the world who do not speak for the big polluters or the big corporations but for all people.”
On his turning completing 41 years of awesomeness, social media has also gone crazy as he celebrates his birthday with the golden lady he missed so closely after nominations many times and all we want to say is, Happy Birthday, DiCaprio!
