FIR against Rakhi Sawant over ‘Modi dress’
Rakhi Sawant had triggered a controversy earlier by posting pictures of her wearing a black leather dress with pictures of Narendra Modi plastered all over it
Bollywood actor Rakhi Sawant has been landed in trouble after wearing a dress with the pictures of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Rajasthan police have registered a first information report against the actress for “allegedly indulging in obscenity and defaming the Prime Minister,” media report said.
The case was registered at the Kankroli police station in Rajsamand district after complaint lodged by a lawyer.
"On the basis of the photos circulated on social media, a local advocate Prajeet Tiwari had lodged the complaint yesterday. The complainant has alleged that Sawant insulted the PM by wearing a dress with pictures of the PM in August," said SHO Kankroli police station Laxman Ram.
In August, Rakhi Sawant had triggered a controversy by posting pictures of her wearing a black leather dress with pictures of Narendra Modi plastered all over it. She reportedly wore this dress for a pre-Independence Day celebration in Chicago.
The complainant, a local advocate named Prajeet Tiwari, said Sawant has insulted the Prime Minister and the BJP not only in the country but internationally by wearing the dress.
Tiwari said in his complaint: "Not only she wore it, but going a step ahead, she posted her pictures on the social media which amounts to causing disgrace and humiliation of the Prime Minister. She did this intentionally because she was denied a Lok Sabha ticket from Mumbai," he said in his complaint,” TOI reported.
The FIR was registered under several sections of IPC and relevant sections of Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
