A fire broke out at the State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Parry’s Corner area of Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Friday. Eight people were rescued by firefighters from the third floor of the building.
The fire broke out in the basement which is used as leather godown.
A total of five fire engines, four tankers and a skylift were used for the rescue operations.
According to initial information, no causalities have been reported so far and the cause of the fire is not known yet.
The building where the fire broke out, also housed branches of four private banks-Yes Bank, Catholic Syrian Bank, Kotak Mahindra and RBL.
