A fire broke out at a godown in Sadar Bazar market area of Delhi at 7am on Wednesday. No casualties have been reported so far, said Delhi Fire Service officials.
“It was a godown that held garments for export. The fire was big, but we have not received any reports of any casualties yet. We have sent ten fire tenders to help control the situation,” said a Delhi Fire Service official. The fire has reportedly engulfed at least three adjoining buildings.
The cause of the fire is yet to be investigated. Sadar Bazar market, a crowded area, sells mostly household goods. In a similar incident, on November 8, a total of 150 shops trading mostly in woollen garments and 350 huts were gutted after a massive fire broke out. The area had a few cracker godowns and the crackers burst due to the fire aggravating the situation.
