In a massive fire break in a garment factory, 13 people were killed in Sahibabad of Ghaziabad district.
The fire was reported at 5.20 am in the morning and fire tenders were rushed to the spot.
“The fire broke out at a factory in a residential area of Sahibabad around 4:30am in the morning. 13 people, who were sleeping there have died and another 2 or 3 people are getting treated at the hospital,” Bhagwat Singh, local police spokesman told AFP.
Singh also said that the cause fire was likely to be a short circuit as the factory was manufacturing leather jackets and clothes.
Two people were reportedly rescued from the fire as soon as they woke up when the fire broke.
"The two of them woke up by chance and say they screamed for others to wake up while running towards the terrace but others didn't wake up, perhaps it was already late," local fire officer Abbas Hussain told AFP.
