HH Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed welcomes Archbishop of Canterbury
Extending warm welcome to Archbishop of Canterbury, Sheikh Mohamed wished that their efforts would be crowned with success in service of tolerance, understanding and co-existence among different religions and sects to live in peace, security and tranquility
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has welcomed Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Welby and Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb of Al-Azhar.
Archbishop of Canterbury and Grand Imam are on a visit to UAE to participate in the tw0-day interfaith dialogue on integration, religious freedom and flourishing societies in Abu Dhabi organised by the Muslim Council of Elders and with Christian leaders from the Anglican Communion.
Extending warm welcome to both guests, Sheikh Mohamed wished that their efforts would be crowned with success in service of tolerance, understanding and co-existence among different religions and sects to live in peace, security and tranquility.
Sheikh Mohamed interacted with the scholars on some of the key issues discussed during the sessions to strengthen humanitarian and cultural affairs of nations and peoples.
The Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi emphaised that justice, peace and the teachings of the religions are the demands of peoples. He also underlined that the UAE, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan formulated the rules and principles to reinforce the UAE's policy of peace, religious and multi-cultural co-existence, tolerance, equality, and the rejection of extremism, violence, as well as discrimination and racism.
Both guests appreciated the warm hospitality accorded to them and praised UAE for remaining a model of peace, religious tolerance for diverse population living in UAE.
Leading religious and cultural figures across the world are attending this event.
The other major scholars attending the sessions include Sheikh Abdullah bin Bayyah, President of the Forum for Promoting Peace in Muslim Societies, Dr. Ali Al Nuaimi, Secretary-General of the Board of Trustees of the Muslims Council of Elders, Mohammed Mubarak Al Mazrouei, Under-Secretary of the Crown Prince's Court of Abu Dhabi, and a number of officials.
