Indore-Patna Express derailment ‘may be a plot against Centre’: Murli Manohar Joshi
BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi on Sunday demanded the probe into the Indore-Patna derailment tragedy in which over 100 passengers were killed and more than 200 injured and said it may be a plot against the Centre.
In the Indore-Patan derailment incident, the worst rail accident in recent years, 14 coaches of the express derailed near Kanpur early on Sunday. The tragic accident took place at around 3am near Pukhrayan, about 100 kms from Kanpur, when the passengers were fast asleep.
Joshi told ANI, “The reason behind 14 bogies getting turtle could be many because at times one or two bogies derail due to some jerk or due to some default in connecting link. But, in a go, if 14 coaches are being derailed then this creates a doubt that whether the incident happened because the railway tracks were broken or someone did it to defame the Railways Ministry of our country, whatever can be the reason, we demand a probe into the matter.”
He added that if the tracks are broken then the Railways Ministry should pay attention and get the tracks repaired or changed as soon as possible.
President Pranab Mukherjee and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have offered their condolences to the bereaved kin of the victims.
Police and medical teams rushed to the site of the accident to attend to the injured. Cranes and gas-cutters were used to rescue people from the mangled remains.
Rescue operations are underway since early morning and the death toll is expected to rise.Though the cause of the derailment is not known as of now, sources said that the accident may have was caused by a rail fracture.
Railways minister Prabhu earlier tweeted that inquiry has been ordered into the accident and that strict action will be taken against all those responsible.
