Apple is reportedly planning to added a Jet White color option to the recently launched iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus, according to a report in Japanese tech blog Macotakara.

The report said the American technology giant may soon add the new color after the glossy Jet Black color get popular in the series’ colors. This would be in addition to the company’s current portfolio of iPhone 7 products that includes devices in Silver, Black, Gold, Rose Gold and Jet Black hues.

According to 9to5mac.com, it is suggested that the rumour should be treated with quite a bit of skepticism as the blog article lacks details and the move does not follow the traditional cycle of Apple product releases.

The report said, ever since the original iPhone, Apple has not added a new color to an existing iPhone hardware design; new colors are introduced as part of next-generation redesigns. For example, Apple added the Gold color with iPhone 5s and Rose Gold with iPhone 6s.

The only exception in the apple iPhone series is is the iPhone 4 where the white version was release nine months after the black model in June 2010. However, the company had announced the color alongside the original launch as it was intended to launch simultaneously but was delayed due to manufacturing difficulties.

Although Macotakara has had a decent track record in recent months regarding Apple products, it does not seem like it is as confident with this report; the entire source story is only two sentences long and the latter simply warns that ‘this information may be unreliable’, the report said.

The Apple iPhone 7 is powered by quad-core Apple A10 Fusion processor and it comes with 2GB of RAM. The phone packs 32GB of internal storage cannot be expanded. As far as the cameras are concerned, the Apple iPhone 7 packs a 12-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 7-megapixel front shooter for selfies.

The Apple iPhone 7 runs iOS 10 and is powered by a 1960mAh non removable battery. It measures 138.30 x 67.10 x 7.10 (height x width x thickness) and weighs 138.00 grams.
