Three Indian soldiers were killed in Pakistani firing along the Line of Control in Machchil sector of Kupwara in Kashmir, the Army said on Tuesday. One body was found heavily mutilated.

However, Army has said that the retribution will be heavy for the cowardly act. Television news reports inform that Defence Ministry and Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar have been briefed about the attack. It has been said that the Pakistani border action team is behind the killing of Indian soldiers.

It is to be noted that Pakistan has been indulged in heavy unprovoked firing since the time Indian forces carried out a “surgical strike” on terror launchpads across LoC. The “surgical strike” was carried out in the wake of Uri terror attack which killed 18 Indian soldiers.

Even though the tensions along the International Border and the LoC has been escalating, Indian Army has been continuously retaliating to the frequent ceasefire violations by Pakistan. Recently, one terrorist was reported neutralised in an operation by forces on November 7, while two soldiers were also injured. And on the morning of November 22, two militants were killed in Bandipora.

This is the second incident of a soldier being mutilated in a month.
