J&K: Three Indian soldiers killed near LoC, one body mutilated
Three Indian Army soldiers were killed by Pakistani soldiers along the Line of Control in Machhal area of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
According to the Army’s Northern Command, the body of one of the jawans was mutilated. However, Pakistan’s Foreign Office rejected the allegation.
The Northern Command vowed “heavy retribution for the cowardly act”. “3 soldiers killed in action on LoC in Machhal. Body of one soldier mutilated, retribution will be heavy for this cowardly act,” the Northern Command said in a tweet.
The attackers were part of the Border Action Team of the Pakistani Army, according to NDTV. According to reports, all of them managed to escape. This is the second attack on the Army in less than a month in the same sector. On October 29, Mandeep Singh, a soldier serving with the 17 Sikh Regiment, was killed and then beheaded while out on patrol ahead of Kala Post
Border skirmishes intensified after suspected militants attacked a military base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri, killing 19 Indian soldiers on September 18. India claimed to have carried out a “surgical strike” after the attack across the Line of Control. Pakistan has denied the claim.
India shares 230 km of International Border and 740 km of LoC with Pakistan in Jammu and Kashmir.
