Kanpur train tragedy: PM Modi says Centre will investigate the derailment
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the Centre would investigate the derailment of Indore-Patna Express which left 145 dead and hundreds injured.
The PM added that the relief work is going on in full swing. He was addressing a public gathering in Agra. He asked railways to work towards achieving the zero accident target to make train journeys safe.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered an inquiry by the Commissioner, Railway Safety into the train derailment.
Senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi had said that the tragedy may be a plot against the Centre to defame the rail ministry. “In a go, If 14 coaches are being derailed then this creates a doubt that whether the incident happened because the railway tracks were broken or someone did it to defame the Railways Ministry of our country, whatever can be the reason, we demand a probe into the matter,” Joshi had said.
“Anguished beyond words on the loss of lives due to the derailing of the Patna-Indore express. My thoughts are with the bereaved families,” Modi had tweeted after the incident.
