Messi announced the decision in a press meet after a world cup qualifier against Columbia which Argentina won by 3-0
Argentina football team captain Leonel Messi on Tuesday led his team is boycotting press until further notice for reportedly receiving mistreatment.
"We have decided not to speak any more with the press," Messi announced in a press meet after a world cup qualifier against Columbia which Argentina won by 3-0.
"We've received many accusations, a lot of lack of respect and we never said anything. We're very sorry it has to be like this but we have no option," the Barcelona player said with his 25 teammates attending.
"We know there are lots of you who are not in the game of not showing us respect but getting into one's personal life is very grave and that's why we're here (announcing this)," Argentina captain added.
Argentina has received criticism for its poor results in the recent past. But the decision of the team came in the wake of reports of player Ezequiel Lavezzi smoked marijuana after practice.
The Albicelestes was defeated by their rivals Brazil by 3-0 on last Thursday. It was their second consecutive defeat following two draws which put their world cup qualification dreams at danger.
