Militants storm Jammu Army camp in Jammu, 7 Army personnel killed
At least seven Army personnel were killed and three others injured in the fierce gunbattle that broke out on Tuesday when three terrorists stormed an Army camp in Nagrota near Jammu. By the evening, the three terrorists were killed by forces, who rescued the 16 hostages.
Two officers and five jawans died in the operation. The Hindu had reported the militants appeared in the area between 5.30 am and 6 am and attacked a nearby Army camp. “Fierce firing is on in the area,” sources said.
However, how they managed to enter the well-fortified premises is yet to be known, said sources to Indian Express, adding it has an army firing range on one side and a nursery on the other side.
All schools in Nagrota have been closed for the day, said an official. In addition, all entry points to Jammu city have been sealed as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, three terrorists were killed after BSF spotted suspicious movements of the terrorists using thermal imagers near Chamliyal Border outpost Sector in Jammu’s Samba district.
