Nana Patekar advices patience to the public on demonetisation
Politically inclined actor Nana Patekar on Wednesday spoke in favour of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s demonetisation drive. He appreciated the move saying people should have the patience to bear some inconvenience for the sake of the nation.
“Demonetisation of currency notes is a very good step taken by the Government. It is going to cause some inconvenience but we should bear it for the sake of our nation,” Patekar said while meeting the family of jawan Gurnam Singh, who lost his life while foiling an infiltration bid in Kathua Sector of Jammu and Kashmir.
He also said, “We have been tolerating many things from the past so many years, can we not tolerate this problem for 10-20 days?”
Reportedly Patekar, who had earlier supported the move to ban Pakistani actors from India, was visiting border areas along International Border(IB) where he said that ‘kadak chai’ will taste like sweet tea to the honest.
He said this in reference to recent statement by Prime Minister Modi where he said banning Rs 500 and Rs 1000 note ban was like his kadak chai which the rich won’t like. Talking about his chaiwalla background, he had said, “When I was young, poor people used to tell me: Modiji, chai jara kadak banana.”
He said he knows the same ‘kadak chai’ doesn’t go down well with the rich. On November 8, government had scrapped Rs 500 and Rs 1000 note, in an attempt to control black money, and introduced new Rs 500 and Rs 2000 notes. Since then the country has been facing chaos due to currency crunch, and today opposition took the matter to Parliament.
