No update on 21 Hyderabadi women trapped in Saudi Arabia
All of them were recruited as domestic help (Khaddama) in Saudi Arabia with good salary offers
Families of 21 women, who were sent to Saudi Arabia from Hyderabad on job visas by agents in Malakpet, have filed police complaints after they lost contact with them.
All of them were recruited as domestic help (Khaddama) in Saudi Arabia with good salary offers. Some of them secretly managed to inform their families about the actual situation in their new workplaces.
“Families of 21 women had come to us seeking help to bring them back safely. Most of them have also approached the police. The families have had no contact with the women after they left for Saudi Arabia,” said MBT Amjed Ullah Khan, who has been helping trapped victims to get back to Hyderabad.
There are women agents in Hyderabad, some of them visit houses of low income families to canvas job seekers, offering good pay. It is only when they reach Saudi Arabia they realise that all promises were fake. There are so many similar cases reported from Saudi Arabia about trapped victims.
“Most of these agents get at least Rs 3 lakh from the employers for recruiting each Khaddama. That’s why they hunt for gullible women from poor families in Hyderabad,” Amjed added.
It is a bitter truth that in spite of many stories about such cheating known to the families, they still tend to fall in traps of agents.
