PM Modi, Amit Shah wish LK Advani on his 88th birthday
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah on Tuesday reached senior BJP leader LK Advani’s residence to extend birthday greetings to him.
The PM also wished him birthday early morning on microblogging website Twitter and prayed for his long and healthy life.
“Wishing our inspiration, one of India’s tallest leaders who has served India tirelessly & diligently, Shri LK Advani ji on his birthday. I pray to God that Advani ji is blessed with a long and healthy life,” the Prime Minister tweeted.
Union Minister Smriti Irani and Minister of State Jitendra Singh also wished Advani on his birthday.
“On his birthday, I extend my heartiest wishes to our guiding light Shri L K Advani ji. Prayers for his good health & long life,” Smriti wrote on Twitter.
Advani, who served as the Home Minister during NDA regime under Atal Bihari Vajpayee in 1998-2004, turned 88 on Tuesday.
The former deputy Prime Minister was allegedly sidelined by the Modi government after coming to power in 2014 and was not given significant role in key decision-making bodies of the party.
The senior leader was included in the Marg Darshak Mandal and served as a mentor to BJP along with Murli Manohar Joshi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
