Porn-hit Karnataka minister files case against journalists who filmed him

The minister has urged the police to take action against the accused journalists for demoralising and defaming him by telecasting such news

Karnataka Minister of State for Primary and Secondary Education, Tanveer Sait, who was caught watching sleazy pictures on his phone at a public function, has filed a criminal case against a local journalist and his cameraman who filmed him.

The journalists Siddu Biradar and his cameraman Prashanth from TV9 have been booked for “intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace” under Section 504 of the IPC.

In the complaint, the minister has urged the police to take action against the accused journalists for demoralising and defaming him by telecasting such news.

Sait landed in a controversy on Thursday after a video footage emerged showing him watching sleazy pictures on his mobile on stage at a public function to mark Tipu Sultan’s anniversary celebrations in Raichur district.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while responding to a question on the case filed by Sait said, “I will speak to him (Sait)… I’m not defending anyone, what is important is whether the mistake has been committed or not. I don’t want innocents to get punished, whoever it is, whichever party the person may belong to.” The chief minister added, “If Sait has committed a mistake, it is a mistake. What I have said is let us get a report on that let us conduct an inquiry and if mistake is proved, let us take action.”

Sait has claimed that he was only scrolling through messages received on WhatsApp and someone had posted the pictures there purposefully. Sait could face action from the government if an inquiry finds him guilty.
