President Obama says Michelle will never run for office
Reports say at least three Political Action Committees have been formed recently with the aim of kickstarting a campaign for the outgoing First Lady to run for president in 2020
Scotching speculations over Michelle Obama’s future plans in politics, the US president Barack Obama said the first lady will never be part of a White House race.
In an interview with Rolling Stone editor Jann Wenner, Obama said, "Michelle will never run for office."
"She is as talented a person as I know. You can see the incredible resonance she has with the American people. But I joke that she's too sensible to want to be in politics," he added.
After the Donald Trump’s win in the recent presidential election, calls for Michelle to run for the White House have been strengthened by fundraising efforts from political campaign groups.
Reports say at least three Political Action Committees have been formed recently with the aim of kickstarting a campaign for the outgoing First Lady to run for president in 2020.
The web site of one of such initiatives said America needs a loving healer like Michelle in order to bring together factions of our divided nation to produce policy results, The Independent reported.
“The goal of this movement is to get the ball rolling by identifying a network of supporters, volunteers and donors that would support Michelle in this endeavour. Then, if she can be convinced to run, we can provide her with an early advantage against any opponents,” it said.
