President to seek report on JNU student missing
President Pranab Mukherjee would seek a report from the Home Ministry and the JNU administration on the missing student Najeeb, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.
Talking too media after a meeting with president, Kejriwal said that Pranab Mukherjee has assured he will seek a report from the Home Ministry and the JNU administration.
Najeeb Ahmed, a student of MSc Biotechnology has been missing for the last 23 days after allegedly having a scuffle with ABVP activists in the campus.
Mr. Kejriwal said: ““People who were involved in the brawl with Najeeb were questioned by the police yesterday, 22 days after he went missing. That was also a formality. We have apprised the President of the matter.”
“He has assured us that he will seek a report from the Delhi police and the JNU in this regard,” he added.
The AAP chief also alleged that the state police did not take any action in this case due to “political pressure.” He also accused the Delhi Police at a solidarity meeting on the JNU campus, saying the force is not probing the matter properly.
Meanwhile, Delhi Police has released a massive crackdown on JNU students protesting over the issue in Jantar Mantar and declared section 144. Reports said the missing student Najeeb’s mother and sister were also detained by the police.
