The public was in for an apparent surprise when Rashtirya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad Yadav made a reference to Uncle Podger’s character in English writer Jerome K. Jerome’s ‘Three Men in a Boat’ while talking about Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a series of tweets, Yadav said that the Prime Minister reminds him of Uncle Podger who takes on more responsibility than he can deliver and ends up creating a mess.

Continuing the tweets in the light of demonetisation, Yadav said that Modi is like Uncle Podger who “over promises but under delivers”. He also said that Modi is troubling everyone including ministry, government, public, BJP, and farmers. “Like Uncle Podger, Modiji boasts he needs no one, but soon employs everyone, creates mess, blames all-Picture out of frame and himself out of scene,” he wrote.

Comparing the two, he said that Modi believes there’s no one better than him or knows more than him; he is the man who starts something and blames it on others when things go wrong.

His tweets have went viral, with public not only talking about the comparison, many are surprised that Yadav made such a reference. Some Some, however, doubted that it was his own idea because well, ‘Uncle Podger hangs in a picture’ is not a poem.
