'Raise it High': UAE to kickstart Flag Day celebrations today
UAE Flag Day celebrations will be held from November 3 to 7 with a number of activities like Flag Walkathon, operetta, radio contests, Flag City, 'Raise it High' campaign etc.
The five-day UAE Flag Day celebrations will begin on Thursday across the Emirates. The 'Raise it High' campaign plans to send across powerful messages across the citizens to instill pride in national flag.
The celebrations will be held from November 3 to 7 with a number of activities like Flag Walkathon, operetta, radio contests, Flag City, 'Raise it High' campaign etc.
Shaikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, stated the ‘Raise it High’ aims at huge participation across age and language to express their pride in the flag and establish its value.
The activities will begin with a Flag walkathon from Al Jazira Club in Abu Dhabi to the National Theatre.
Shaikh Nahyan will hoist the national flag in the presence of the participants. He urged all to participate in Flag Day celebrations, as 'the flag is a symbol of union, pride, dignity and is the pride of every Emirati'.
Shaikh Nahyan will then proceed to inspect artistic creations by UAE children and local artists. The event will also have a Flag operetta led by by Emirati singers.
A number of cultural programmes and competitions are being arranged at the Flag city in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, added officials.
The ministry has arranged many competitions at various places like shopping malls in Abu Dhabi and Dubai as well as online competitions to make awareness on the UAE's history and rulers.
"The UAE leadership is keen to ensure that these national events become an opportunity to highlight the national spirit, support values of loyalty and belonging, promote community cohesion and national pride in our dear country and its flag, "said Shaikh Nahyan.
"The celebrations this year revolve around the fact that we live under the flag of the UAE enjoying security, safety, prosperity and stability, allowing us to shape the future and support comprehensive development under our wise leadership," he added.
