Shilpa Shetty gets trolled for saying Animal Farm is a must-read for kids

Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty’s comments about the ICSE decision to include JK Rowling’s Harry Potter series in the English Literature syllabus for junior and middle school students triggered hilarious Twitter reactions.

When asked about the move, Shetty is reported to have said, “I think having books like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter as part of the syllabus is a great move because it cultivates imagination and creativity at a young age. I thinks books like Little Women would also encourage respect towards women at a young age. Even Animal Farm should be included as it will teach the little ones to love and care for animals.”

Animal Farm, the novel by George Orwell, is a satirical takedown of the erstwhile Soviet Russia. But Shetty’s comments did not escape the razor-sharp Twitterati. The platform was flooded with fun takes on her remark and hashtag named  #ShilpaShettyReviews started trending.
