Shiv Sena asks Centre to accept failure over border conflicts
The BJP’s ally in the center, Shiv Sena, on Thursday attacked the Union government over its failure in bringing an end to the killings along the Line of Control in India-Pakistan border.
An editorial in Shiv Sena’s mouthpiece Saamana today said the Central Government, which took credit for surgical strikes across Line of Control (LoC), should now admit its failure, PTI reported.
“In the case of demonetisation, the government is coming out with new proof that would make people patriots. But it is not ready to talk on Pakistan’s activities at the border.
“When will the government show its patriotism by avenging the killings and beheadings of Indian soldiers?” the editorial asked.
The article said that the government should now accept its failure, if it has taken political mileage out of the surgical strike.
“If the Prime Minister has made everyone come out on the streets with one decision (of demonetisation), he needs to take a similar decision one evening to crush Pakistan,” it added.
The Indian Army recently launched a fire assault Wednesday against Pakistani posts at different points along the LoC days after the killing of three of Indian soldiers.
Following these incidents, Pakistan’s ambassador to the UN Maleeha Lodhi met the UN officials and alleged that the situation along the LoC posed a “grave threat to international peace and security”, media reports said.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena took a complete U-turn in their stance on demonetisation saying it as “a bold and historic decision.” Earlier, the party was very critical of demonetisation and the inconvenience it has caused to people.
