Success story: Carpenter becomes M.Tech first rank holder in Kerala
At a time when parents are doling out lakhs of rupees for their childs education and coaching, Nirmal proves that money can never be a substitute for hard work and perseverance.
Hardships can never be an obstruction in the way of success if you are dedicated to your goal. This has been proved by Nirmal, a native of Mala in Thrissur, Kerala, who stood first in M.Tech Power Electronics despite working as a carpenter for livelihood.
Nirmal began doing carpentry works during his school days after his father Mukundan became unable to go for work due to heart ailment. However, this did not distract him from his studies and instead became a means to finance his studies, a new report in Mathrubhumi said.
At a time when parents are doling out lakhs of rupees for their child’s education and coaching, Nirmal proves that money can never be a substitute for hard work and perseverance.
When he entered college, he limited his work timing to weekends.
Striking a perfect work-study balance, Nirmal used to come to his native place from Kannur every Friday and work on the weekends. On Sunday evening, he would return to Kannur to resume his classes.
He bagged the first rank in M.Tech Power Electronics from the Government Engineeri Government Engineering College under Kannur University with 8.58 cumulative grade points.
Nirmal has also secured admission to Dr A P J Abdul Kalam Technical University for carrying out research with scholarship.
He was also selected for IIT training programme after presenting a novel technology for operating inverter at cheaper cost, Mathrubhumi reported.
