Suicide blast at Shia mosque in Kabul kills 27
A massive suicide blast killed at least 27 and 35 got injured at Shia mosque in the Afghan capital Kabul as worshippers gathered for a religious ceremony.
“It was a suicide bomber who blew himself up among worshippers inside the mosque, killing 27 and wounding 35,” said Fridon Obaidi, a senior police official.
There is no immediate claim of the responsibility of blast.
“I was in the mosque, the people were offering prayers. Suddenly I heard a bang and windows broke. I had no idea what had happened. I rushed out screaming,” said Ali Jan, a survivor.
In July more than 80 people got killed in an attack on a demonstration by the Shia Hazara minority that was claimed by Islamic State militants.
