Sartaj Aziz, the Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s adviser on Foreign Affairs, has said that if US President-elect Donald Trump would be a deserving candidate for the Nobel Prize if he succeeds in resolving the Kashmir dispute between India and Pakistan.
Responding to Trump’s offer to mediate between Pakistan and India, Aziz said: “Trump would deserve a Nobel Prize if he helps resolve the Kashmir dispute.”
According to a report in Geo News, Trump in an interview before the US election, had expressed that he would be pleased to mediate between Pakistan and India.
“Well, I would love to see Pakistan and India get along, because that’s a very, very hot tinderbox.. That would be a very great thing. I hope they can do it,” Trump had said.
The US real estate mogul’s statement was welcomed by Pakistan’s Foreign Office with spokesman Nafees Zakaria saying that Pakistan was looking forward to working with the new US administration of President-elect Donald Trump.
Meanwhile, Aziz also said that Pakistan will participate in the Heart of Asia Conference scheduled for December in India, amid continuing skirmishes along the border area between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.
