We disagreed on file but Kejriwal is a Gentleman: Najeeb Jung
"I defer to the elected government in 99% of the cases that come to me. Only in 1% of the cases we might disagree," Jung said.
Speaking at the Time Lit Fest being held in Delhi, Lieutenant governor Najeeb Jung insists he doesn't come in the way of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government's decisions. While Arvind Kejriwal and he had "disagreed violently on file," his personal rapport with the Delhi CM was very good.
He was inaugurating the second edition of the Times Lit Fest Delhi , where he delivered the keynote address, "India@70: Change Begins Here." While answering questions on the constant friction between his office and that of the CM, the capital's two administrative power centres, Jung said, "I defer to the elected government in 99% of the cases that come to me. Only in 1% of the cases we might disagree."
Emphasizing that there has been no conflict, the L-G said, "Delhi has worked for 25 years without a problem. There was a newly elected government with a lot of expectations from them. They had a lot of expectation from themselves. There was a level of excitement, exuberance of youth was high. I am seeing a smoothening of things now."
He also said, "My rapport (with Kejriwal) is very good. I find him a gentleman. I have never had an altercation with him, though we have disagreed violently on file."
