The family members said they were unable to get change for old currencies to purchase medicines
A 55-year-old woman from Railway Kodu breathed her last when she suffered cardiac arrest and her family failed to get her medication due to lack of change. She has been going undergoing treatment at Ruia hospital in Tirupati from last night.
The family members said they were unable to get change for old currencies to purchase medicines.
P Ramanamma suffered cardiac arrest on Friday morning and was rushed to SVIMS in Tirupati for treatment but the doctors asked her son P Prasad to take her to Ruia hospital.
The relatives exchanged Rs 4,000 from the banks but the money got exhausted for their basic needs like transportation. When her condition started deteriorating, doctors prescribed some medicines and told the family members to buy them immediately.
According to The New Indian Express, Prasad weepingly said :
"I purchased some medicines from the pharmacy at the Ruia hospital. But a few medicines were unavailable and I had to go to other medical shops outside the hospital premises. The medical shops refused to accept the old notes.
Though some of my friends arranged for new notes and I purchased the medicines but by that time it was too late. My mother died as the medicines were not supplied within the crucial time."
