28th Palm Springs International Film Festival to open with Ritesh Batra’s film

Do you remember the beautiful love story that emerged out of a tiffin box in 2013? Lunchbox, the film starring Irrfan Khan, Nimrat Kaur and Nawazuddin Siddiqui in lead roles was directed by Ritesh Batra. The film won many accolades including the Best Film at the London Film Festival and Best Foreign Language Film at the British Academy Film Awards.

Ritesh Batra will be honoured at the 28th Palm Springs International Film Festival as part of Variety’s coveted list of 10 international directors to watch out for. After his first film,

Lunchbox in 2013, Batra is back with his second film, The Sense of an Ending. The screening of the film will take place on January 2, 2017 at the festival.

In The Sense of an Ending, a retired old man is haunted by his past secrets – the truth about his first love and the decisions taken by him and his best friend as youngsters, that force him to ponder on the current situations of his life.

The film is adapted from the award-winning bestseller by Julian Barnes with the same name. It stars veteran British actors Jim Broadbent and Charlotte Rampling, along with Michelle Dockery, Emily Mortimer and Matthew Goode.
