AIADMK has no choice other than Sasikala, says Deepa Jayakumar
Deepa Jayakumar said that in politics, successors are sometimes groomed, but, sometimes they just emerge.
Deepa Jayakumar, a niece of J Jayalalithaa, in an interview to The Economic Times said that AIADMK has lost its leader and they do not know what to do now.
“They have not analysed the situation properly. A critical analysis into the crisis needs to be done. Political consultants and experts need to be spoken to. I ask: So, you have opted for Madam Sasikala. Who will you go to after her? Her family? So, the situation is not clear to them,” she was commenting on Sasaikala’s possible entry as the party head.
Deepa remembered her relationship with Jayalalithaa, “We have to remember that I was deliberately separated. I was always there. I remember that she was very warm, very affectionate, and cared for us a lot. She was particular about what gifts she would give to us. What happened in 1995 - that fateful wedding [a large wedding of Jayalalithaa's foster son VN Sudhakaran - caused considerable harm to our relations”.
The 42 year old Deepa added that as of now no national political parties have contacted her and it will take time. She is not averse to the idea of joining other parties to help AIADMK find its right track.
